Hierarchical linear modeling analyses of the NEO-PI-R scales in the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging
Article Abstract:
An examination on age trends in the 5 factors and 30 facets assessed by the Revised NEO Personality Inventory in Baltimore Longitudinal study on Aging was conducted. Consistent with cross sectional results. hierarchical linear modeling analyses showed gradual personality changes in adulthood, a decline in neuroticism upto age 80, stability and then decline in Extraversion, decline in Openness, increase in Agreeableness, and increase in conscientiousness upto age 70.

Which social needs are important for subjective well-being? What happens to them with aging?
Article Abstract:
A study investigating the relation of three human social needs, satisfaction levels of affection, behavioral confirmation, and status, to age and physical loss. The results concluded that the three social needs do not become less important with advancing age but the need for behavioral confirmation becomes more difficult to satisfy with high physical loss.

The effect of social comparison information on the life satisfaction of frail older persons
Article Abstract:
A study based on the effects of social comparison on the life satisfaction of 455 community-dwelling older persons, is reported. As compared to upward comparison, the older persons felt more satisfied with their lives after downward comparison.
