Neuroticism, coping strategies, and negative well-being among caregivers

Article Abstract:

The role of personality of the caregiver in the caregiving stress and coping model was examined in the context of the effects of neuroticism, diagnosis, coping strategies on negative well-being. Neuroticism was found to have direct and indirect effects on negative well-being. Burden directly affected negative psychological well-being. The model is influenced by diagnosis through direct effects on stressors and wishful-escapism coping.

Effects of age on symptoms of anxiety and depression in a sample of retired police officers

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to address the effects of age on anxiety and depression symptoms on the basis of the responses of 1334 retired male Scottish police officers, aged between 34 and 94 years, to the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. The results indicated that the respondents were increasingly susceptible to depression from the age of mid-50s, while susceptibility to anxiety was reduced with age.

Neuroticism and depressive symptoms among spouse caregivers: do health behaviors mediate this relationship?

Article Abstract:

The mediating role of health behaviors in the relationship between neuroticism and depressive symptoms among spouse caregivers were examined. The results indicated that neuroticism has a significant direct effect on depressive symptoms and also indirectly influences depressive symptoms through health behaviors and perceived stress.
