Predictive value of nonspecific symptoms for acute illness in nursing home residents

Article Abstract:

Studies show that lethargy, weakness, and lessening appetite are positive predictors of acute illness in nursing home patients, each of which correctly indicated the presence of illness one out of two times they were reported by patients. Disorientation and agitation indicated a serious illness one out of three times they were reported.
