Prompting primary providers to increase community exercise referrals for older adults: a randomized trial

Article Abstract:

A study to determine the influence of a clinic based physical activity promotion intervention leading to more community based exercise referrals by primary health care providers and higher exercise motivation in older patients is presented. The results indicate that patients more likely to start regular exercise when primary providers extend required support and vice versa.

Determinants of lower-body muscle power in early postmenopausal women

Article Abstract:

The association between muscle size, density, fiber composition, body composition, maximal isometric knee extension strength (KES) and lower-body muscle power in healthy postmenopausal women is examined. Low body fat mass, high KES, and high density of thigh and lower leg muscles were associated with high vertical jump height.
