Rediscovering idealism by pounding, hauling & measuring: helping to build a Habitat house becomes a feel-good project for all concerned

Article Abstract:

A woman was inspired by former president Jimmy Carter to volunteer to build houses for the poor as part of Habitat for Humanity International. Although she was skeptical at first about whether the work could make a difference, she quickly experienced the satisfaction of helping others that could not be achieved by simply writing a check.

My dream home! (But why the nightmares?)

The challenge of creating a home as a single person at 50 can be daunting. It is not a beginning, but more of a renewal of old dreams given up for realities. It also a process of coming to terms with oneself. It is deciding how to live the rest of one's life.
