Relative importance of preoperative health status versus intraoperative factors in predicting postoperative adverse outcomes in geriatric surgical patients

Article Abstract:

This study examines the predictors and prevalence of negative postoperative results in aged surgical patients who have had noncardiac surgery. Findings suggest that the postoperative mortality rate is low for noncardiac geriatric surgical patients, and the majority of patients with preoperative chronic medical problems respond well postoperatively.
