Scaling ADLs within the MDS

Article Abstract:

Methods for determining an aged person's dependency in activities of daily living or ADLs is presented, based on the data listed in the Minimum Data Set. Revised scales are detailed that can be used by medical professionals to classify the dependency status of elderly persons in nursing homes.

A study examining, the relationship between insomnia, hypnotic use, falls and hip fractures in older people, aged 65 and older, staying in nursing homes in Michigan, and as recorded in the Minimum Data Set, is presented.

The effect of insomnia definitions, terminology, and classifications on clinical practice
