Six-year change in affect optimization and affect complexity across the adult life span: a further examination

Article Abstract:

Data from a 6-year long study was used to find out about the general developmental trajectories that affect optimization and complexity during the life span of an adult. It was seen that the rates of change in affect optimization were positively associated with age from adolescence to late middle age and later in life they were negatively associated with age.

Representations of self across the life span

Article Abstract:

A study of the variations across adolescence to adulthood and later life in self-representation patterns, personality variables and assessments of cognitive and emotional functioning of subjects aged 11 to 85 years reveals that, on the whole, self-representation scores topped during middle-age and were at their lowest in the older adult and preadolescent groups. Self-representation levels were characterized by cognitive and personality factors.
