Emerging evidence for inflammation in conditions frequently affecting older adults: report of a symposium

Article Abstract:

A symposium on recent findings on the mechanics of inflammation with respect to conditions frequently found in older people is presented. Issues discussed include the basic mechanics of inflammation, recent advances in stroke treatment and prevention, the cause of acute cardiac ischemic syndrome in older people, and the inflammatory mediators in osteoarthritis.

Aging-related clinical and health services research in Canada

Article Abstract:

Geriatric research in medicine has grown significantly since the founding of the Canadian Society of Geriatric Medicine in 1981. Growth in research is increasing by Canadian geriatricians and under the Canadian Study of Health and Aging more opportunities for multicentre, multidisciplinary and collaborative studies are emerging.
