The efficacy of omeprazole-based short-term triple therapy in Helicobacter pylori-positive older patients with dyspepsia

Article Abstract:

A prospective, nonrandomized therapeutic study has been carried out in Israel at a primary care and referral center of a gastroenterological outpatient clinic to evaluate efficacy of 1-week triple therapy with tinidazole, clarithromycin and omeprazole in Helicobacter pylori-positive older patients, mean age 68.8 years, with dyspepsia. The therapy was found to be well tolerated and effective as first-line therapy for H. pyrlori in older people, but is less effective in those previously treated. The group studied numbered 134, of whom 71 were men, and all were over age 60.
