What constitutes normal hemoglobin concentration in community-dwelling disabled older women?

Article Abstract:

The relationship between the continuous distribution of hemoglobin (Hb) and all-cause mortality in a large cohort of community dwelling, disabled older women is assessed. It is observed that the meaningfully lower mortality risk with higher hemoglobin (Hb) levels provided empirical evidence against the notion that Hb, which is perceived as mildly low, is clinically benign.

Agreement between self-report of disease diagnoses and medical record validation in disabled older women: factors that modify agreement

Article Abstract:

A study conducted to determine the agreement between self-report of chronic disease and validated evidence of disease using multiple ascertainment methods and to assess effects of cognition, education, age and comorbidity is presented. The results reveal that increasing comorbidity and age and decreasing cognition and education do not reduce validity for diseases.
