American values and social justice: Why Medicare today is in conflict with our social values

Article Abstract:

The three conflicts between existing Medicare and social values that need to be addressed state that Medicare is partially a standard social program, it is in large part a subsidy regardless to need, and it is a defined-benefit program. One of the solutions to solve these conflicts would be deciding the proportion of resources that should go to retiree medical care compared with social goals that include education or defense.

It was concluded that the young citizens would protect the program provided they gain knowledge about the program and hence highlights the importance of including young citizens in the discussion on the program by national officials.
