Contributions to change in the input-output model: The search for inverse important coefficients

Article Abstract:

Overall importance ranking updating approach and a balanced updating approach can identify coefficients that cause inverse changes economic input-output tables. These approaches can also determine how structural changes are carried across the economy. Studies showed that mean errors resulting from the balanced updating approach are higher than those resulting from the overall importance ranking updating approach. Studies also showed that analysts with knowledge of important structural changes of the update period, can derived more accurate changes by using the balanced updating approach.

Do suburbs need cities?

Article Abstract:

A correlation study done on the interdependence of the economic growth of cities and suburbs show that the interdependence only exists when suburbs are situated near large cities or cities exhibiting fast economic growth. The determining factors for the dependence of the suburb's economic growth on the city's economic growth are city income growth, house-value appreciation and population growth. The study underscores the dependence of the city and the suburbs on each other, which has great implication on sustainable economic growth.
