Global civil society

Article Abstract:

The possibility for a civil sphere on a supra-national scale was imagined since the first national institutionalizations of civil societies, and is embodied in the collective representation of globalization, which has organizational integuments and political economic effects. Why cultural sociology is not 'idealist': A reply to McLennan

Article Abstract:

A reply to Gregor McLennan lucid critical essay is used to offer overall perspective on the development of the work, normatively, empirically and theoretically, and in its earlier neofunctionalist and later cultural-sociological phase. Cultural sociology introduces a method and theory for understanding a dimension of social life and not an attempt to explain every part of social life.
