Meta(l)morphoses

Article Abstract:

Gilles Deleuze's philosophy of becoming requires that the person or object shed all externally applied identities, making white men the closest to becoming while women and minorities must shed all identities given by men. The characterization of women and minorities as other can be seen even in fictional projections of the future because both groups are linked to aliens and monsters. Modern humans have yet to attain Deleuze's concept of becoming because people are still starting from unequal points in attempting self-representation.

Posthuman, all too human: Towards a new process ontology

Article Abstract:

A review of Donna Haraway's works is presented, with a discussion on her vision of cyborgs, nomadic subjects, and her post-secular thoughts. It is argued that the hyper-reality of the nomadic or cyborg post-human predicament makes it necessary to work towards a radical redefinition of political action, and that postmodernity rests on the paradox of simultaneous commodification and conformism of cultures, while intensifying disparities and structural inequalities.
