Multiculturalism and political correctness: the challenge of applied anthropology in curricular politics

Article Abstract:

The challenge of defining multiculturalism and its implications on the current curriculum debate in universities is posed to cultural anthropologists in the academe. The decline in enrolment rates of multicultural student population and the intensifying climate of intolerance in universities are cited to express the urgency of solving education failure problems. Since anthropology is an especially appropriate discipline to provide information on race and ethnicity issues, its contribution to the formulation of responsive curricula changes can be invaluable.
