On the brink of abolishing discrimination against lesbians and gays

Article Abstract:

American society is near abolishing discrimination against lesbian and gays. Two of its states namely, Hawaii and Alaska, have their courts, in fact, support same-sex marriages. Furthermore, the Federal Court has extended the law of sexual harassment in the workplace to include cases involving members of the same gender. However, still a substantial number of Americans has still not fully accepted the existence of homosexuals as they find the political movement gays and lesbians formed intolerable.

Catholic Bishop Gumbleton urges gays and lesbians to "come out."

Article Abstract:

Catholic Bishop Thomas J. Gumbleton of Detroit, MI encourages gays and lesbians to come out just like what his brother, Dan, did. He came to support, understand and accept homosexuals for what they are because of numerous stories, feelings and experiences these people have told him. However, he still feels that he can not officiate a same-sex marriage for the same reason that he cannot ordain a woman to become a priest.
