On the interpretation of fixed input coefficients under aggregation

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the interpretation of fixed input coefficients under aggregation. The common assumption of fixed input coefficients was reexamined since data in input-output tables are obtained by aggregating the microdata. Results indicated that additional assumptions at any subaggregate level are necessary whenever the common assumption of fixed input coefficients is adopted. The importance of interregional input-output tables at a detailed sectoral decomposition was also emphasized.

A biproportional filter to compare technical and allocation coefficient variations

Article Abstract:

A biproportional filter was formulated to compare fixed technical coefficients, also called Leontief's mechanism, with fixed allocation coefficients, also called Ghosh's mechanism. Unlike proportional filters, Biproportional filters permits simultaneous comparison of column and rows. Utilization of French input-output data for 1980 and 1993 revealed that row and column coefficients change simultaneously.

In vindication of the ghosh model: a reinterpretation as a price model

Article Abstract:

The act of transforming Ghosh's supply-driven input-output model into price model helps in making the former a viable tool in assessing gross sectoral output changes. Such act of transformation entails a change in sectoral output values brought about by primary input price changes. It also permits a purposeful analysis of the inverse matrix in relation to multipliers.
