Organizational career development is not dead: a case study on managing the new career during organizational change

Article Abstract:

Organizational changes are seen as a threat to career progress and career security. within this context, this case study aims to examine whether individuals take more responsibility for their career development. Individual and organizational responsibilities in the areas of developing capacity and employablity, strategic and structural integration and cultural integration are compared. A medium size public organization in New Zealand is used for this study.

Psychological success: when the career is a calling

Article Abstract:

The connection between objective success and subjective success, which is often termed as psychological success, is discussed. It is important to attain an amount of dissociation between objective and subjective success as the career progresses. Subjective success is better felt when the career is perceived by a person to be his or her objective in life.

Career success in a boundaryless career world

Article Abstract:

Measuring success by taking peer group members of the same organisation as a sample does not serve its purpose for people living boundary-less careers. The means to obviate the gap between theory development and empirical examination of the career success theory is discussed.
