Reflexivity: one step up

Article Abstract:

An approach to reflexivity based on only one level of self-reference is presented as an alternative to both the 'flat' discourse of naturalism and the infinite layers of reflexivity characteristic of metadiscourse. Topics include Bruno Latour's discussion of meta- and infra- reflexivity, circular reasoning, vicious reflexivities, views of Sandra Harding and Pierre Bourdieu, and reflexive critique in relation to intellectual rivalry.

Privileged nomads: on the strangeness of intellectuals and the intellectuality of strangers

Article Abstract:

This article examines the relationship between images of the postmodern intellectual and that of the stranger or exile throughout social history.
