Science, Technology and Society

Article Abstract:

Science, Technology and Society (STS) emerged as a vital field in the last quarter of the 20th century, along with the transformations of the techno-scientific infrastructures of the modern world. STS takes scientists and engineers as active collaborators in understanding how the specialized components of actually practiced science and engineering knowledge in their localized contexts can be configured into broader, yet informed, approaches to living in a complex world.

Persian poesis

Article Abstract:

Iranian films became the most celebrated of national film traditions in the 1990s because of a poetics that addresses to the contemporary condition, a poesis that is deeply informed both by modernist traditions and by Iran's own cosmopolitan traditions. These films communicate to a world caught in the aftermath of religious tensors, and in the aftermath of wars received no longer stoically but through the recognition of post-traumatic stress syndrome.

The challenge of cultural analysis is to develop translation and mediation tools for helping make visible the differences of interests, access, power, needs, desires, and philosophical perspective.
