Self-management perceptions and practices: a structural equations analysis

Article Abstract:

An assessment of the psychometric properties of two self-management measures based on the Brief and Aldag model is presented. The subjects consisted of managers at a large retail organization with stores all over the Midwest. The Self-Reinforcement Index was used to measure managers' self-management perceptions while the Self-Management Practices Scale was used in determining specific self-management practices. Results show two distinct facets of self-management which can be subdivided further into four independent subscales.

Satisfaction at last job and unemployment: a new look

Article Abstract:

The relationship between satisfaction at last job and unemployment has been studied by using a more quantitative method. Subjects were tested on the 18-item Job in General Scale to measure their job satisfaction profiles. The 12-item General Health Questionnaire was used to determine their mental health. Results indicate that satisfaction at last job is not a determinant of future unemployment. Satisfaction at last job may be important in research issues such as career growth and reemployment experiences.
