Status cues and the formation of expectations

Article Abstract:

The theory of nonverbal cues and status, which is theory that comes under the expectation states theoretical research program, is discussed. Results indicate that the expectation states theory has been responsible for conceptualizing a wide range of social processes that are involved in the emergence of social structure from the interaction in goal-oriented fact-to-face situations.

The role of status in evaluating research: the case of data editing

Article Abstract:

The extent to which status consideration influences sociological research practice is investigated using hypothetical vignettes. It is concluded that status considerations are relevant to sociological research and that the researchers judge the same data cleaning strategy more stringently when a graduate student, rather than a professor, proposes the strategy.
