Successful support groups for African American caregivers

Article Abstract:

The Delaware Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association offers a constellation of programs and services to help individuals with dementia and their families including large number of African Americans. One of such services are the support groups which offer caregivers the opportunity to be educated about Alzheimer's and changes that will occur as a result of the disease.

Family caregivers on the job: moving beyond ADLs and IADLs

Article Abstract:

Family caregivers of the twenty-first century face different challenges from their counterparts of the mid-twentieth century. Research, practice and policy would help them meet these challenges and refinements and supplements to ADL/IADL measures would be an important step in that direction.

The state of the art of caregiver assessment

Assessment on a new perspective, family caregiver, is focused. Commonalities, differences and neglected areas in existing caregiver assessment tools are explored and the implications for practice are suggested.
