Testing macro organizational theories in laboratory experiments

Article Abstract:

The use of laboratory experiments to test theories of macroorganization using human subjects in the role of organization was evaluated. Two sequential stages of behavior, namely, decision-making and execution, and two different types of groups: democratic and dictatorial, were employed in the experiments. The results showed that laboratory experiments represent statistical conservative tests of if four parameters are met. These are two alternative choices, mean individual competence greater than 0.5, individual decisions are not highly positively correlated and simple majority decision rule.

Where do cultures come from?

Article Abstract:

A concrete evolutionary psychological theory of son daughter preference is presented to examine as to why people in some societies prefer sons to daughters and practice female infanticide whereas those in others prefer daughters to sons and practice male infanticide. The empirical analyses show that wealthier individuals from 46 nations prefer sons to daughters, whereas poorer individuals prefer daughters to sons.

White hiring agents' organizational practices and out-group hiring

Article Abstract:

Race-sex variation in hiring outcomes is investigated to understand the way organizational practices, workplace formality and job characteristics affect the process. It is suggested that sex differences in social networks and women's and men's different location on employers' labor queues influence the hiring process.
