The French system of innovation in the oil industry some lessons about the role of public policies and sectoral patterns of technological change in innovation networking

Article Abstract:

Government intervention plays a significant role in the formulation of innovation systems along with other institutions such as business firms and research and development centers. Public policy may be beneficial in stimulating cooperation within industry, demonstrated in the French system of Colbertism. These policies which were applied to the French oil industry facilitated the creation of innovative institutions and interaction between private and public R&D centers.

Technology transfer revisited from the perspective of the knowledge-based economy

Article Abstract:

Research into the process of technology transfer from the perspective of the knowledge-based economy is presented. It is suggested that the nature and extent of the technology transfer process is closely connected with a company's focus of attention. The quality of the technology transfer process is strongly influenced by the absorptive abilities of the companies.

Technology transfer in transitional economies: a test of a market, state and organisational models

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the transfer of technology from state-run institutions to commercial markets are discussed, with particular reference to Russia. Three perspectives are viewed: pure market forces, state support and inter-firm relations.
