The contribution of publicly provided inputs to states' economies

Article Abstract:

Education and highways, both publicly provided infrastructures, are important elements of economic growth. The two are found to contribute substantially to production output, along with labor. Education, however, has a stronger impact on output. Thus, when specifying aggregate production functions, public inputs should also be included. States should also make optimal decisions regarding the expenditure levels on those two components of the public budget.

A note on a Lagrangian derivation of a general multi-proportional scaling algorithm

Article Abstract:

An efficient minimum information loss system is applied to the general multi-proportional updating system. The method prescribes an algorithm which allows additional data and constraints to be considered on groups of elements in the matrix's interior. A Lagrangian derivation of the scaling algorithm is also presented. The method is a useful extension of the previous RAS type method since it overcomes the major limitations of these alternative approaches.
