The cultural techniques of time axis manipulation: On Friedrich Kittler's conception of media

Article Abstract:

Several considerations are presented that open new avenues in Friedrich Kittler's media theory and in that they attempt to reconstruct an idea that can provide a new impetus for reflections on media that transcends specific schools of thought. An attempt is made to reconstruct an ingenious discovery without disputing the fundamental core of Kittler's notion of media, a breakthrough that can be found in Kittler's linking of media with the technique of time axis manipulation.
