The optimal taxation of interregionally mobile capital under uncertainty

Article Abstract:

A prototype of the ideal taxation of interregionally mobile capital under technological uncertainty is utilized to evaluate the symmetrical use of source-based capital taxes. It was demonstrated that source-based capital taxes may be employed by a regional government to reallocate risks between the private sector and the public sector. In several cases, it was established that regional governments are more efficient when private investors can completely alter away their risk.

The multi-store location and pricing decisions of a spatial monopoly

Article Abstract:

Earlier models of spatial pricing assumed that the monopoly company planning a store is limited to a single site option. The monopolist was also expected to discriminate against consumers and set mill prices. Under more realistic expectations where more than one store is established in the market, an 'output effect' is defined, where discriminatory prices charged by the monopolist reduces total output.
