The management and evaluation of technological programs and the dynamics of techno-economic networks: the case of the AFME

Article Abstract:

Techno-economic networks (TENs) are emerging as a new set of organizations which aids in the development and diffusion of innovations and organizes the dynamics between scientific and technical research and the marketplace. Government interventions in the form oftechnological programs have been directed at the emergence and growth of TENs. A study of the French Agency for Energy Management (AFME) outlines the methods which allow a better understanding of such interventions.

The technological competencies of the world's largest firms: complex and path-dependent, but not much variety

Article Abstract:

Firm-specific technological features play a crucial role in determining the success of international large-scale firms, as revealed by an analysis of the world's top 400 international corporations. Results suggest that companies that have retained their global competence adopt highly stable and differentiated technological systems. It was also established that complexity and path dependency are two determining factors in achieving international competence.

Technological competition, strategies of the firms and the choice of the first users: the case of road guidance technologies

Article Abstract:

The race towards the adoption of new technology and the creation of products based on that technology is analyzed in its initial stages. The choice of first users of the technology is significant to the outcome of the product development process. These first users also exercise an influence on the next set of users in collaboration with the firm whose social standing and influence within the industry can positively affect acceptance of the technology.
