The moderating role of task characteristics in determining responses to a stressful work simulation

Article Abstract:

The use of procedural information in enhancing employee performance has been proven effective in mitigating the negative effects of occupational stress. Results derived from two distinct researchers conducted on a sample of undergraduate students revealed that procedural information substantially reduces the negative impact of work demand on perceived performance. It was further shown that task complexity is a high-order job characteristic which determines the interaction among behavioral control, task demand and procedural information.

The relationship between self-efficacy for participating in self-managed work groups and the big five personality dimensions

Article Abstract:

A study was made on the relationship between the Big Five personality dimensions and self-efficacy for participating in self-managed work groups. The results suggested that Neuroticism, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness were significantly related to self-efficacy for participating in self-managed work groups. The findings imply that organizations should consider personality when deciding whether or not to implement self-managed work groups or should participate in this type of structure.
