The new McCarthyism: repeating history in the war on terrorism

Article Abstract:

During the war on terrorism, the US government has targeted certain individuals based on actions they may take based on such characteristics as ethnicity or religion. It has also attempted to use administrative procedures to avoid the guarantees associated with criminal justice. These methods have been used during almost every time of mass fear in recent US history, although their form has changed.

U.S. opposition to the International Criminal Court

Article Abstract:

The International Criminal Court has strong procedural safeguards against such acts as politically motivated prosecutions and violations of national sovereignty. The US has simply ignored these safeguards in its rush to undermine the legitimacy of the Court. The US's policy on this issue threatens to hinder the attempt to remedy and prevent crimes against humanity.
