The new museum

Article Abstract:

New museums are described as physically new institutions that are dedicated to the exhibition of cultural objects, artifacts and experiences. However, in seeking to transcend the distinctions between high culture and popular culture and in aspiring to remain financially viable businesses, a series of difficulties emerge for new museums, especially in relation to their 'core business' of artifact preservation and exhibition making.

Article Abstract:

The term 'critique' can be translated into Japanese in two ways, hihyo and hihan, each of which showed their own way of development and transformation under the Western influences. A study elucidates in which socio-political context the practice of critique is made, and the kind of problems and tasks faced in the critical discussion of society and politics in Japan.
