The politics of love: from chivalry to equality

Article Abstract:

Feminist thinking has subverted the connections between family, culture and the notion of hierarchical love, both natural and divine. As a result, political thought, always a reflection of culture, has lost some of its ability to grasp the divine notion of love as a guiding principal. This can lead to moral and societal decay. Without a notion of immorality, which feminists consider a social construct rather than a divine fact, society will continue to suffer.

Daniel Boorstin and Russel Kirk: religion and American political development

Article Abstract:

The American social contract has been weakened by a lack of consensus on what constitutes morality. This in turn has led to a decline in the role of the family as social institution. The religious nature of tradition in moral thought needs to be given its due in discussions on social responsibility and family policy. The work of Daniel Boorstin and Russel Kirk is discussed.

Sexual equality and romantic love: a reanalysis of Rosenblatt's study on the function of romantic love

Article Abstract:

This article describes research that suggests societies which permit sexual equality rely more on romantic love as the basis for marriage than societies that do not. Sanctions against female sexuality and the importance of Paul Rosenblatt's 11-point scale of romantic love are discussed.
