The urban enterprise zone

Article Abstract:

An analytical framework of urban enterprise zones (UEZ) in the context of regional development was developed. The intermediate goods sector was incorporated into the framework to determine the direct and indirect effects of UEZs on regional economies such as agricultural wage, job creation, changes in the regional economic structure and urban unemployment. Data proved that UEZs are effective policy instruments that can help promote urban renewal and regional economic growth. However, the use of UEZs at the national level may not provide as much benefits as in the regional level.
