U.S. family policy in search of values, 1965-1995

Article Abstract:

Daniel Patrick Moynihan since 1965, has strongly supported a sweeping national family policy for the United States. The efforts towards concrete family policy show a growing polarization of opinions. The lack of common approach toward the efforts is creating hurdles in the improvement of conditions of American families. Moynihan's suggestion calling for assessment of government policies with respect to its effects on family, should be taken into account. Values of personal responsibility and compassion should be balanced. Private initiatives should be taken.
