Understanding and informing policy implementation: a case study of the domestic violence provisions of the Maryland Gun Violence Act

Article Abstract:

Legalities and procedures of implementing the Maryland Gun Violence Act enacted in the State are examined to find the effectiveness of these laws in defending the domestic violence victims. Recommendations for effective implementation of these laws are given in the light of the findings from a case study on the provisions of the act.

Separating batterers and guns: a review and analysis of gun removal laws in 50 states

Article Abstract:

Relevant characteristics of state laws for the prevention of firearms possession by domestic violence offenders, in the United States are examined. Recommendations for its enforcement and improvement are also presented. Compulsory enforcement of law on possession of all sorts of fire arms and procedural clarity is recommended.

Disarming batterers through restraining orders; the promise and reality in California

Article Abstract:

Need for enforcing firearms prohibition laws in the United States, to prevent the access to firearms is discussed in the light of the reommendation of the California attorney general's task force on the local criminal justice response to domestic violence are discussed.
