A dynamic Asian response to globalization in cross-cultural social work

Article Abstract:

An attempt is made to clarify authentization, indigenization, cultural sensitivity, cultural competence and globalization that are controversial issues in cross-cultural social work. A model of dynamic Asian response and exchange in the field of cross-cultural social work practice in Asian countries is suggested in terms of various Asian cultural contexts.

Chinese concepts of mental health: Cultural implications for social work practice

Article Abstract:

The traditional concepts of mental health that have a significant impact on clients in Chinese communities are discussed. A short description on the way both culturally sensitive and culturally competent perspectives could help a migrating family face their problem in a multicultural country is presented.

Tensions and dilemmas of social work education in China

Problems of social work education in China created by commercialization, professionalization and politicization are discussed. People should learn how to integrate Chinese political ideologies with social work values for the future development of social work and social work education.
