A short form of the Fagerstrom test for nicotine dependence and the heaviness of smoking index in two adult population samples

Article Abstract:

The main purpose of the study conducted was to determine the degree of Fagerstrom test for nicotine dependence (FTND) represented in a reduced item solution of FTND, heaviness of smoking index (HSI) and the distribution of the HSI estimated levels of dependence. The results indicate that four items of FTND and HSI represent FTND and FTND and HSI may be considered as valid measures of the urge to smoke and tobacco-smoke-seeking behavior.

A factor analysis of the Fagerstrom Tolerance Questionnaire

Article Abstract:

A factor analysis of 1309 Fagerstrom Tolerance Questionnaires (FTQ) is presented. It is concluded that psychometric studies of the FTQ, along with the Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence, are required to assist in defining which domain of nicotine addiction the FTQ assesses.
