Aiding Bosnian refugees in Hungary

Article Abstract:

The difficult experience of social workers operating a refugee camp for Bosnian refugees in Hungary illustrates the inadequacy of social support extended to refugees in general. The camp could barely provide for the refugees' needs as seen in the lack of privacy in resident's quarters, the nutritional deficiency of available food and the lack of counselors and professionals who can attend to their emotional needs. The UN High Commission for Refugees is addressing these needs through integration and training programs.
