Bio-phobias/techno-philias: virtual reality exposure as treatment for phobias of 'nature'

The article explores the influence of new media on treating phobias based on natural objects such as snakes and spiders. Research involved interviewing members of the United KingdomEs National Phobics Society. Discussion includes whether complete cultural-based control can be asserted over unpredictable natural phenomena.

'Ignorance is bliss sometimes': constraints on the emergence of the 'informed patient' in the changing landscapes of health information

The article examines the correlation between healthcare information and resultant empowerment, and the influence of online services on this relationship. Findings show that einformation for choiceE can contribute to tension and conflict between layperson knowledge and expert knowledge in the clinical setting.
