Common predictors of cigarette smoking, alcohol use, aggression, and delinquency among inner-city minority youth

Article Abstract:

This article examines the risk factors and prevalence of substance abuse, aggression, and delinquency among inner-city minority youth. The authors, analzying results from a survey administered to 6 graders from 42 New York City schools, maintain aggression was reported most frequently, followed by delinquent behavior, alcohol use, and smoking with predictors varying due to demographic, environmental, and social variables.

A longitudinal exploration of alcohol use and problems comparing managerial and nonmanagerial men and women

Article Abstract:

A long-term study of the alcohol use of men and women working at large manufacturing company in both managerial and non-managerial jobs is described. The study found that female managers were more likely to report frequent alcohol consumption and alcohol-related problems. The relation of job stress and increased consumption is also examined.
