Do cyclic changes in women's face preferences target cues to long-term health?

Article Abstract:

Women appear to prefer men with masculine features when the time for conception is high and this could be due to an adaptation for obtaining genetic benefits for their children. An investigation into whether a preference for other facial cues to long-term health of the men might increase during high conception risk was undertaken but no evidence was found for such preference.

The attractiveness of average faces is not a generalized mere exposure effect

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to find whether a generalized mere exposure affect contributes to their appeal and whether positive affect associated with previously seen faces generalizes to the averaged composite of those faces. It is concluded that the appeal of average faces is not a generalized mere exposure effect.

Generalization of mere exposure effects to averaged composite faces

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effect of repeated exposure to pictures of human faces on the subsequent ratings of composites of the previously seen faces. Findings indicate that exposure significantly increases likability ratings of both composite faces and the original component faces.
