Feasibility study of the social enterprise intervention with homeless youth

Article Abstract:

A study was undertaken to assess the benefits homeless youth gained through a social enterprise intervention (SEI) on their mental health and abnormal behaviors. Findings showed that youth recruited to work in small businesses gained immensely, showed a positive improvement in their mental health problems, better family relations and satisfaction with their achievements besides others.

Housing first services for people who are homeless with co-occurring serious mental illness and substance abuse

Article Abstract:

A study on housing first services for people who are not only homeless but also have serious mental illness and are substance abusers is presented. The results show that individuals with dual problems can remain stably housed without increasing their substance abuse, and therefore housing first program are a practical alternative to standard care.

Reducing AIDS and substance abuse risk factors among homeless, HIV-infected, drug-using persons

Article Abstract:

The authors discuss a study of the impact of a day treatment program in reducing HIV and substance abuse risk factors among homeless, HIV-infected drug-users. Positive developments in the study participants' behavior, housing stability and drug recovery are outlined.
