Help-seeking experiences of Hong Kong social work students: implications for professional training

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that social conditioning can influence whether or not an individual seeks help or from whom they seek help, based on data from a group of Hong Kong students in social work education. Cultural proscriptions regarding help-seeking behavior can complicate interaction between Hong Kong social workers and their clients; indications for cross-cultural training are discussed.
