Housing indicators in community indicator projects

Article Abstract:

Performance indicators are defined as quantifiable measurements, that reflect the critical success factors for an organization and community level indicators are broader in scope and are developed in concert with governmental, non-profit, for-profit and citizen advocacy groups. Housing-related indicators are used in different ways like identifying the affordability of single-family home as a prime indicator of success.

Studies in the news: The 2007 State of the Nation's Housing Report

Article Abstract:

The 2007 State of the Nation's Housing Report released by the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies reported the crisis of affordable housing among increasing number of Americans. The massive influence of income and uneven distribution of wealth has direct implications on the housing market by controlling the type of real estate that is being built and maintained.

Article Abstract:

A survey was conducted which found that lack of affordable housing was the leading cause of homelessness in the United States. The survey of 27 cities co-sponsored by Sodexho USA showed that hunger and homelessness in major US cities continued to rise in 2004 as 74 percent of the cities surveyed, indicated increases in requests for emergency shelter.
