Housing policy crossroads, a reply to Peter Dreier and John Atlas

Article Abstract:

A progressive housing policy based an expansion of the political constituency is suggested. The proposal cites the absence of proper coordination between housing and social services, which has affected program success. The policy also recognizes the power that a mass political constituency will have in applying a federal housing program. However, such a program must ensure that all details are properly addressed.

US housing policy, a rejoinder

Article Abstract:

The development of a federal housing policy must cover the broadest possible political constituency for progressive housing reform. Federal funding channels between local and national government must also be properly managed to avoid political conflict. Essentially, what may be needed is a progressive political coalition that has the political will to establish decent and affordable housing for every American.
