Infrastructure planning and sustainable development

Article Abstract:

Collaboration between organizations and government agencies is needed to achieve the goals of sustainable development. Engineers must cooperate with environmental advocates and make use of biological and societal data in implementing sustainable programs. While penalties for non-sustainable activities must be implemented strictly, it is also imperative to create incentive programs and ease environmental regulations of organizations that develop sustainable actions.

Urban knowledge parks and economic and social development strategies

Article Abstract:

The information provided by George Bugliarello about Metrotech being the largest knowledge park in the US and one of the largest in the world is misleading. He lists Metrotech as the sixth largest but the five larger ones are also located in the US. Some knowledge parks in international cities are also listed but they are smaller compared to Metrotech. He should have provided information about other countries with knowledge parks larger than those in the US.

Cemetery relocation: emerging urban land development issue

Article Abstract:

Urban development projects nationwide are adversely affected with cemetery relocation issues. Other unmarked cemeteries have already been disturbed by construction activities because such cemeteries have not been identified as burial grounds. However, since many cemeteries have historical significance and are being revered to be the final resting place of the dead, the issues on cemetery relocation may hamper city planning and development.
