Innovative wall system helps older multifamily housing

Article Abstract:

An overview is presented on an interior wall composite system that encases hazardous lead paint and sheaths deteriorated plaster, extending the life of multifamily housing structures that have begun to show age and wear. The walls consist of board made from cellulose-fiber-reinforced gypsum, polyisocyanurate insulation faced in foil, polyurethane foam, metallic tape for sealing joints, and wood fasteners and nailers.

Providing solutions: common area lighting for public housing

Article Abstract:

This article discusses the United States Department of Energy's project to develop common area lighting for public housing. Innovative lighting fixtures have been designed at Alabama's Auburn University and are meant to be vandalism-resistant, attractive and cost-effective.
