International political economy "after" the business cycle

Article Abstract:

Six key changes are occurring in the modern international political economy in ways that can dampen the tendency for business cycles and the extent of cycles in developed countries. These are changes in the nature of employment, innovations in information technology, globalization of value-added processes, developments in finance, emerging economies and developments in government policy, especially among Group of 7 countries. These major changes are seen to make business cycles of the future less prevalent, less far-reaching and less significant than in the past.

Could a pan-Korea Development Corporation promote economic cooperation between South and North Korea?

Article Abstract:

North Korea is facing difficulties because of the reduction of aid coming from Russia and China. The proposal of South Korea to extend economic assistance to North Korea in exchange for a dialogue for a peace treaty was initially ignored by the latter. In the near future North Korea may accept economic assistance from the South. Among the economic cooperation vehicles analyzed, the creation of a Pan-Korea Development Corp appears to be the ideal solution for both Koreas.

The economic crisis of the First World

Article Abstract:

Many had envisioned a problem-free future for the First World after the collapse of the former USSR and the end of the Cold War. Unfortunately, this optimistic vision has not come to pass. The First World has in fact found itself confronted with several crises, including one which has serious implications on the global economy. The developed countries need to understand that this economic threat is linked to moral decline.
